PHOTO: Southwest Summit Rescheduled to October 29–30

The organisers of the Southwest Citizen-Government Engagement Summit have announced new dates for the event, following an earlier postponement.
The two-day summit, initially scheduled to hold on October 9–10, will now take place on October 29–30, 2025, at The Dome, International Conference Centre, Akure, Ondo State.

According to the summit’s Steering Committee, the adjustment became necessary to allow for better coordination among key stakeholders and to ensure broader participation from across the six Southwest states.

The summit, organised by Afenifere in collaboration with the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, is themed “Strengthening Democracy Through Dialogue: Assessing Progress, Charting the Future.”

Expected participants include Southwest governors, federal and state legislators, traditional rulers, civil society representatives, and private sector leaders.

The organisers assured that all logistical arrangements are being finalized to ensure a successful and inclusive engagement aimed at promoting development and cooperation across the region.
