A youth leader identified as Dele has been confirmed dead in Warri, Delta State, following an operation in the Pessu community, Warri South Local Government Area.

According to local accounts and social media reports, Dele’s body was taken to the Warri General Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. Community sources allege that Nigerian Army personnel and operatives linked to Tantita Security were involved in the operation and delivered the body to the hospital.

Residents described the incident as a coordinated attack, claiming that security operatives entered Pessu alongside Tantita members before the youth leader was killed.

The community has called for an independent and transparent investigation, demanding that the Nigerian Army publish the names of officers involved, disclose the weapons and vehicles used, and arrest those responsible if wrongdoing is confirmed.

At press time, the Nigerian Army and Tantita Security had not issued official statements in response to the allegations. Warri General Hospital confirmed receipt of a body with gunshot wounds but referred questions on identification and cause of death to the Delta State Police and other authorities.

Delta State Police Command has yet to comment on the incident.

The killing has heightened tensions in Warri, where community leaders warn that continued clashes involving private security outfits, local vigilantes, and security forces could lead to further unrest.
