Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, has said the Federal Government’s National Single Window (NSW) project will significantly cut trade costs, reduce revenue losses, and create jobs across the country.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ forum on the National Single Window, Oduwole explained that the system will provide a central digital platform for traders to process all required permits, customs declarations and approvals. She said the initiative is designed to eliminate delays, curb multiple documentation and address overlapping regulatory processes.

According to her, the inefficiencies at Nigeria’s ports have cost the nation trillions in revenue. She noted that full deployment of the NSW could reduce such losses by at least 25 percent, making Nigeria’s trade procedures more efficient and internationally competitive.

Oduwole also highlighted the potential of the project to support export-oriented sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing and technology, adding that the streamlined system would improve Nigeria’s attractiveness to foreign investors.

She said President Bola Tinubu has directed the NSW Steering Committee to ensure the system is fully operational by the first quarter of 2026, urging all relevant agencies to work together to meet the deadline.
