Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will today, Saturday, August 23, inaugurate the Lagos State Industrial Leather Hub located at the Matori Industrial Estate in Mushin.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the development in a post on X, describing the hub as a major step toward strengthening Lagos’ industrial base, boosting job creation, and empowering local entrepreneurs.

According to the governor, the hub is structured into two main sections:

Production Area fitted with state-of-the-art industrial leatherwork machinery for the mass production of shoes, bags, belts, and other premium leather goods.

Commercial & Business Development Area which houses shops, showrooms, training rooms, workstations, and offices designed to nurture creativity and support the growth of artisans and entrepreneurs.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the initiative underscores the state’s commitment to “building industries that generate employment, stimulate innovation, and strengthen the economy.”

The Lagos Industrial Leather Hub is expected to position the state as a leading centre for leather production in Nigeria, while offering new opportunities for artisans and small businesses to scale their craft.
