Olu of Warri Announces Bursary Scheme for 1,000 Itsekiri Students in Delta and Edo

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has unveiled plans to provide bursary support for 1,000 Itsekiri students across Delta and Edo States.

The monarch made the announcement as part of his commitment to advancing education and empowering the younger generation within the Itsekiri kingdom. He explained that the bursary scheme will target students in tertiary institutions, helping to ease their financial burdens and encourage academic excellence.

According to the Olu, the initiative aligns with his broader vision of fostering human capital development and creating opportunities for young people to thrive. He stressed that education remains a critical tool for preserving the Itsekiri heritage while positioning the kingdom for future growth.

Details on the application process and disbursement timelines are expected to be released soon. The bursary scheme is set to benefit Itsekiri students in both Delta and Edo, where the ethnic group has a strong historical presence.
