The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has blacklisted popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM1, from flying for a period of six months following his alleged unruly behavior at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to official reports, the incident occurred on Monday, August 5, when KWAM1 attempted to board a ValueJet flight carrying a flask with an unidentified liquid. Airport security personnel requested that the container be opened for inspection in line with standard aviation security procedures. However, the musician reportedly declined.
Eyewitnesses claim the situation escalated when KWAM1 allegedly poured the contents of the flask on the pilot, airport security, and some passengers. The unexpected outburst caused panic at the terminal and led to a temporary disruption of flight activities.
Reacting to the incident, the NCAA confirmed that it has sanctioned the two ValueJet pilots involved for breaching safety protocols by proceeding with the flight despite the unresolved security concern. The authority also announced that KWAM1 has been placed on a six-month no-fly list, barring him from using any commercial airline operating within or outside Nigeria during the suspension period.
A ValueJet spokesperson described the act as “completely unacceptable and a threat to civil aviation safety,” stressing that the airline would pursue legal action if necessary.
As of press time, KWAM1 has not issued a public statement regarding the incident.
The development has sparked mixed reactions from the public, with some condemning the musician’s alleged actions, while others called for a more thorough investigation.
This marks one of the rare cases where a high-profile individual has faced travel restrictions from the NCAA over in-flight or pre-boarding behavior.
