In a significant move to recognize and reward outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, President Bola Tinubu has announced the immediate employment of 200 exceptional corps members into the federal civil service.

Each of these outstanding individuals will also receive a cash award of ₦250,000 in recognition of their remarkable service from 2020 to 2023.

The ceremony, held in Abuja, was attended by key government officials, including the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, who represented the President.

During the event, President Tinubu, through his representative, praised the awardees for their dedication, patriotism, and teamwork, highlighting the importance of their contributions to the nation’s development.

Beyond the employment opportunities and cash awards, the awardees will also benefit from scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies at any Nigerian university. Notably, 10 corps members who suffered disabilities during their service will also be included in this scholarship program.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment through education, technology, and skills development programs.

He urged young Nigerians to remain hopeful and united against divisive forces, emphasizing the need for collective effort in driving national progress.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, commended President Tinubu’s passion for youth progress, highlighting the administration’s dedication to creating opportunities for young Nigerians.

NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu also lauded the recent improvements in the NYSC program, including the increase in corps members’ allowance to ₦77,000 and enhanced post-service benefits.

This initiative shows President Tinubu’s administration’s focus on youth development and empowerment, providing opportunities for young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s growth and development.
