Coronation celebration for Owa Adesuyi Haastrup to kick off in Ijesaland

The Palace of the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland has announced a 10-day coronation program for His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, as the 41st Owa of Ijesaland.

According to the statement released by the Chairman of Media and Publicity, Sub-Committee of the Coronation, Chief Shola Oshunkeye, said the cultural and spiritual heart of Ijesaland, will begin on May 16, 2025, and culminate in a grand coronation ceremony on May 23, 2025.

Coronation Programme Highlights

-May 16: The festivities will commence with a special Jumat service at Ilesa Central Mosque at 1 pm.

-May 17: A vibrant cultural celebration will take place at the newly refurbished Obokungbusi Hall from 10 am to 4 pm, followed by a grand Isese Night at the palace courtyard at 9 pm.

-May 19: Royal visits to various Ijesa zones are planned from 10 am to 4 pm.

-May 20: The Owa Ajimoko III Ijesa Marathon will kick off at 7 am, followed by the grand finale of the coronation football tournament, medal presentation, and awards at Ilesa Grammar School Sports Arena at 10 am.

-May 21: Orphanages across Ilesa will receive charitable visits from 10 am, while the Ijesa Mineral Resources Development Forum will host a video documentary screening and workshop at the University of Ilesa.

-May 22: The Ajimoko III Coronation Golf Kitty will tee off at 8 am, followed by a symposium and scholarship/empowerment program hosted by the Ajimoko III Foundation at Royal Park International Hotel and Resort, Iloko-Ijesa.

-May 23: The coronation ceremony will begin at 10 am at the Owa’s Palace, followed by a lavish reception featuring top-tier entertainment and royal hospitality at Ilesa Grammar School at 1 pm.

-May 25: The week-long celebrations will conclude with an interdenominational thanksgiving service at Methodist Church, Otapete, Ilesa, at 10 am.

The coronation program has been meticulously planned to reflect the dignity, heritage, and unity of Ijesaland, as well as the distinguished legacy of the Owa throne.

Owa Adesuyi Haastrup, a respected statesman, former Deputy Governor of Osun State, and billionaire business magnate, was officially named successor to the late monarch, His Imperial Majesty Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, on December 27, 2024.
