FG declares May 1 public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, a public holiday to commemorate Workers’ Day 2025.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, announced the public holiday on April 29, 2025.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, commended workers for their diligence and sacrifice, stating that their efforts are crucial to nation-building.

“There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do, is vital to nation-building,” he said.

The minister encouraged workers to innovate and raise the bar of their trade to drive economic growth and ensure Nigerians derive maximum benefit from the nation’s wealth.

He assured workers of the Government’s commitment to their security and well-being.
