The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially flagged off the 125km Benin-Asaba Expressway Project in Edo State, marking a significant milestone in the country’s infrastructure development.

This ambitious project is a dual-carriage, solar-lit superhighway fully financed by the private sector under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

At the launch event, Honourable Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, described the project as a landmark in infrastructure financing.

He emphasized that the project’s success is guaranteed, thanks to the financial commitment from Africa Plus Consortium and its credible investors.

Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, highlighted the project’s cashless financing model, while Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, praised the financing structure, calling it a “legacy project” that demonstrates private investors’ confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s vision and the country’s economic future.

This flagship project is part of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, showcasing the potential of strategic partnerships in unlocking long-term economic value.

The Government plans to replicate this model nationwide, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and speed in infrastructure development.
