Bayo Onanuga, the Director of Media and Publicity for the former Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Organisation, has clarified that President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of new Service Chiefs was not influenced by nepotism.
On Monday, through his official Twitter account, Onanuga made this statement. Following the dismissal of all service chiefs, Tinubu appointed their replacements.
In response to allegations of nepotism, Onanuga clarified that Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff, is from Enugu in the South East, while Maj.-Gen. EPA Undiandeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, is from Obudu in Cross River State, South-South.
He stated that the appointments covered the various geo-political zones in the country.

- Maj.-Gen. C. G. Musa Chief of Defence Staff (Southern Kaduna, North-West),
- Maj.Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja Chief of Army Staff (South-West),
- Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff (Enugu South-East)
- AVM H. B. Abubakar Chief of Air Staff (North),
- DIG Kayode Egbetokun Acting Inspector-General of Police (South-West)
- Maj.-Gen. EPA Undiandeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence (Obudu Cross River State, South-South).
For those accusing the Tinubu government of nepotism, the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, is from Igbo Eze North LGA of Enugu State.
The Chief of Intelligence is from Cross River. Critics should try to dig for information before rushing to judgment”, he wrote.
