He was the first President-General of the NSCIA, serving from its inception in 1973.
- Ibrahim Dasuki: He served as the Secretary-General and later became the Sultan of Sokoto, he became the President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) in 1988.
- Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar: He has been serving as the President-General of the NSCIA since 2006, and is currently the Sultan of Sokoto.
