Sanwo-Olu signs Lagos electricity bill 2024 into law, paving way for 24-hour power supply

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has signed the Lagos Electricity Bill 2024 into law, marking a significant milestone in the state’s quest for uninterrupted power supply.

The new law is expected to ensure 24-hour electricity supply to every part of the state.

The Lagos State Electricity Law 2024 is a comprehensive plan aimed at addressing the longstanding challenges in the energy sector.

The law is expected to promotes diverse energy sources, including renewable energy, encourages energy efficiency, fosters investment, competition, and innovation in the electricity sector, and helps electrify underserved areas.

According to report, the law will lay a robust foundation for economic growth, fostering industrial development, improving quality of life, promoting energy equity, and economic prosperity, and ensuring environmental sustainability.

The Lagos Electricity Bill 2024 is a major step by the State Government, following the Federal Government’s nod for states to generate and distribute energy in 2023. With this new law, Lagos State is taking charge of its power destiny, and residents can look forward to a steady power supply.
