A 27-year-old man, Ada Joseph, was arrested by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command for trying to sell his former boss’s car, a 2015 Toyota Camry.

The arrest occurred on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Ikeja, Lagos, after the RRS acted on intelligence.

According to reports, Ada stole the car from where it was parked in Osapa, London, Lekki, Lagos around 7:00 a.m. and headed to Alausa Central Business District to sell it to a willing buyer.

Upon arrest, Ada confessed to the crime, revealing that he intended to use the proceeds to bury his late father.

Further investigation revealed that Ada’s employer had sacked him in June 2024 after working for about a year.

Unbeknownst to his former boss, Ada had duplicated the car key, facilitating the theft.

The recovered vehicle and Ada have been transferred to the State Command for further investigation.

This incident highlights the importance of vigilance and proper security measures to prevent theft.

The RRS disclosed the arrest on its X handle on Friday, October 11, stating that the owner of the vehicle was alerted and both the suspect and the recovered vehicle have been transferred to the State Command.
