The Secretary of M.K.O. Abiola’s family, Ameen Abiola, stated that the family expects President Bola Tinubu to fulfil the presidential entitlements of the deceased.Ameen spoke to reporters on Monday during a prayer session at the M.K.O. Abiola family residence in Gbagura, Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari awarded Nigeria’s highest honour, GCFR, to the business tycoon who emerged victorious in the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.The family expressed their desire for the government to go beyond payment of the entitlements and ensure the implementation of the promises Abiola made to Nigerians.
Ameen emphasized their belief that the current administration would ensure that all “deserved incentives for Abiola reach the family.””This government has the capability to guarantee that all incentives owed to the Abiola family reach us. I am confident that this government will do everything possible to ensure that we receive what we should have obtained from the previous government,” he added.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, remarked that Abiola lived a commendable life worth emulating.The governor urged Nigerians to “learn from his noble actions,” as he consistently adhered to the principles of God in all his endeavors.
