Akpabio defeats Yari to become Senate President.

Sen. Godswill Akpabio defeated Sen. Abdulaziz Yari to become the 10th President of the Senate.

Prior to the start of the 10th National Assembly, the electorate of lawmakers had started voting on the Nigerian Senate floor.

After reviewing Senator Godswill Akpabio’s history, Senator Ali Ndume proposed the former Akwa Ibom governor.

Senator Olamilekan Solomon Yayi of Ogun state seconded Akpabio’s nomination.

Senator Ishaku Abbo also proposed Senator Abdul Aziz Yari as candidate for Senate President.
