A law firm, Olufemi I. Falana & Co., has written to the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Lagos State, objecting to the proposed renaming of Olu Akerele Street in Ikeja.

The law firm, representing the late Chief Olu Akerele Family, stated that the family strongly objects to the renaming of the street, which was named after their late father in the early 1970s.

The objection is based on the fact that the change of name will affect the family’s business address, National Identity Numbers (NIN), bank details, utilities, and other important documents.

The law firm argued that the late Chief Olu Akerele made significant contributions to the development of the street and built a structure that has become synonymous with the street.

Renaming the street would be a slap on the face of his legacy.

The law firm requested that the application for renaming the street be rescinded, as the process is shrouded in bad faith and against good conscience.

Copies of the letter were sent to the Governor of Lagos State, the Deputy Governor, and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly
