The Ogun State Police Command has issued a warning to residents to be vigilant and beware of notorious “one-chance” robbery gangs operating in the state.

According to the statement issued by the police command, these criminal gangs have been terrorizing innocent citizens, particularly in Sagamu, Ijebu Ode and Mowe expressway, using deceptive tactics to rob and harm their victims.

Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the command, said numerous complaints have been received from residents. One such complaint detailed an incident where a victim was robbed of N700,000 at gunpoint after entering a car in Kajola on Wednesday.

Odutola advised traders and business owners to avoid traveling with large sums of cash. She also recommended that commuters record their journey and share the video with police media if they have any doubts about the vehicle they are boarding.

“The Ogun State Police Command is currently overwhelmed with reports of a notorious gang operating between Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, and Mowe,” Odutola stated. “Commuters are urged to film their trips and upload the footage to police media if they are uncertain about their vehicle. Traders and business owners should also refrain from carrying large amounts of cash while traveling.”

“Today, a victim had N700,000 forcibly transferred from them after being picked up in Kajola. The assailants, armed with a gun, drove the victim to a street where the money was transferred via a POS machine. We are actively investigating this case,” Odutola stated.
