Another incident occurred on Sunday in Oka-Akoko, Ondo State, as a farmer lost his life in a brutal attack by Fulani herdsmen.

According to report, the tragic event follows a longstanding feud between the farmer and the herdsmen, whose cattle had repeatedly ravaged his farm.

The farmer identify as Sunday Ayeni, had previously reported the destruction of his crops by the Fulani herdsmen’s cattle.

Despite efforts to resolve the issue, the herdsmen allegedly returned, leading to a fatal confrontation.

It was reported that security agents and elders in the community intervened to resolve the issue between the farmer and the herdsmen.

It was gathered that the Fulani herdsmen was later instructed to compensate the farmer with an undisclosed amount of money for his destructed farm land.

The source said, “The late farmer went to the farm with his dog as usual yesterday (Saturday) but he did not come on time. So this led to a search party who discovered his lifeless body in a pool of blood with his dog and cutlass beside him. He was stabbed and macheted by the assailants.”

It was later reported that the farmer had been killed days after getting his compensation.

The farmer’s lifeless pictures showed he was brutally attacked, succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack.

This incident marks the latest in a series of violent clashes between Fulani herdsmen and local communities in the South West region of Nigeria.

Farmers and residents are increasingly concerned about their safety and livelihoods.

Locals in the region as called for government intervention and sustainable solutions to address the ongoing conflict grow louder.
