The Lagos State Government has commenced a clean-up exercise at the Ojodu – Berger median.

This was disclosed on X by the Commissioner, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahaab, on Tuesday, with the caption β€œOpen Defecation:

Lagos State commences clean-up of Ojodu – Berger median, warns against defecating on the road”

The initiative aims to maintain good environmental hygiene and eradicate open defecation in the state.

However, open defecation has long plagued the Ojodu-Berger median, posing health risks and tarnishing the area’s image.

Despite repeated warnings, some individuals continued to engage in this unhygienic practice, which has prompted the state Government’s intervention.

The clean-up exercise, led by the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water involves the removal of human waste and debris also to disinfect and sanitize the area.

Lagos State Government sternly warns individuals against defecating on the road, emphasizing the health hazards and environmental impacts. Offenders will face penalties, including fines and community service.
