The Burundi government has ordered all Rwandan nationals to leave its territory, closed its border and severed relations with Kigali.
It accused its northern neighbour of backing Red Tabara rebels, who attacked last month from DR Congo, killing over two dozens of people.
Making announcement on Thursday afternoon, Interior Minister, Martin Niteretse said: “All the borders are closed.
We don’t need Rwandans here and even those who were on our territory, we arrested them and chased them from Burundian territory”.
Border was also closed between 2016 and 2021.
