The engineering team of Kwara State University, Malete, has successfully converted a petrol engine bus to one that is powered by electricity.
Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Shaykh-Lukman Jimoh, disclosed this during the 10th and 11th combined convocation ceremonies where he maintained that the development came as part of efforts by the institution to contribute its research knowledge to complement government efforts in powering electric vehicles, following high pump price of petrol after removal of fuel subsidy.
The graduating students were advised to use the knowledge gained during their undergraduate days as a tool to addressing societal challenges.
A total of 16,315 students graduated in the combined convocation ceremonies of the institution in various fields of learning.
