Ondo Governor Rewards Super Falcons’ Demehin With ₦30 Million and House After WAFCON Triumph

In recognition of her stellar contributions to Nigeria’s triumphant 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has presented Super Falcons defender Tosin Demehin with a remarkable ₦30 million cash gift and a house at Sunshine Estate in Oba‑Ile, Akure .

The presentation was made during a civic reception held in Akure today to celebrate Ondo State indigenes who played vital roles in securing Nigeria’s 10th continental title in Morocco .

Governor Aiyedatiwa hailed Demehin, who hails from the Ilaje Local Government Area, as a model of discipline, resilience, and sporting excellence. He expressed pride in her performance and her representation of both state and nation on the continental stage .

In a gesture extending beyond players, the governor also rewarded two Super Falcons officials from Ondo State: Mary Akinsola, the team’s media officer, and Mary Oduboku, the team’s secretary. Each received ₦15 million in appreciation of their behind-the-scenes support to the squad throughout the tournament .

Speaking at the event, Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth and sports development, pledging continued investment in grassroots talent and promising strong support for Sunshine Stars Football Club, the state’s top-flight men’s side, to regain its place in the Nigeria Premier Football League .

Responding to the honour, Demehin expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating that the recognition from her home state inspired her and would motivate young girls across Ondo State to pursue their football dreams
