The Nigerian Police Force has successfully dismantled kidnappers’ hideouts and arrested four suspects plotting attacks on government institutions and estates in Abuja.

According to SP Josephine Adeh, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command made the arrests on Tuesday after receiving credible intelligence.

The suspects, identified as Yau Sani (also known as Baba), an ex-convict, Nuhu (also known as Giwa), Kabiru Mohammed, and Yusuf Hassan, were apprehended at their hideout in the Sauka area of Abuja.

Adeh said “The suspects confessed to being responsible for a series of kidnappings of unsuspecting residents in FCT and its environs, the killing of seven victims in the process.

“These gangs have attacked Dakwa, Dawaki, Aco estate, Dupe Village, Zuma Rock, Kuchiko village and some villages in Niger and Kaduna.”

This operation is part of the police’s efforts to curb the rising spate of kidnapping in the nation’s capital. Just recently, the police raided suspected kidnappers’ hideouts and routes in the hills and bushes surrounding Apo-resettlement in Abuja.

The police recovered several arms and ammunition during the operation, further disrupting the kidnappers’ plans to carry out attacks on government institutions and estates.

“The suspects also led police operatives to another hideout in Gauraka Forest, Suleja, Niger State, where they dug out four AK-47 rifles, 13 AK-47 magazines, 162 rounds of 7.6 mm live ammunition.

“The suspects also confessed their intending plans to attack some government institutions and estates within the FCT, which have been proactively prevented by the Command.

“The Command wishes to reiterate its commitment to stamping out crime and criminality within the FCT,” the police spokesperson added.
