Former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has threatened to institute legal action against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following his inability to obtain the nomination form to contest for the position of National Chairman.

Lamido, who arrived at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, on Monday morning, alleged that he was deliberately denied access to purchase the form, describing the act as “unacceptable and undemocratic.”

Addressing journalists outside the secretariat, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed his intention to participate in the party’s forthcoming National Convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State. However, he warned that if the situation persists, he would seek redress in court.

“I came here to buy the form for the chairmanship position, but I was denied. This is not the democracy our party stands for,” Lamido said. “If this continues, I will have no choice but to approach the court for justice.”

Lamido, one of the founding members of the PDP, had earlier declared his ambition on his verified Facebook page, announcing his plan to purchase the form on Monday, October 27, 2025. He had vowed to “restore the party to its old glory” and rebuild its democratic structures if elected chairman.

The development has sparked conversations within the party, with some members expressing concern over what they described as a growing culture of exclusion and internal power play ahead of the convention.
