Former Ogun State Governor and serving Senator, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has raised alarm over the Ogun State Government’s move to demolish some of his properties in Sagamu, including his private residence, Asoludero Court, and the Conference Hotel with its annex.

The state’s Planning and Development Permit Authority, under Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration, issued Notices of Contravention, Notices to Quit, and demolition threats, alleging that the structures were built without proper permits and failed to meet setback requirements. The notices gave occupants just three days to vacate the premises.

In a statement, Daniel’s camp condemned the move, describing it as politically motivated persecution and a violation of due process. They argued that the properties in question were constructed between 2004 and 2015—years before the 2022 Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law came into effect. This development comes nearly two years after the state government partially demolished DATKEM Plaza, a five-storey building owned by Daniel’s wife, citing planning violations, an action that also drew heated controversy.
