El-Rufai: Yoruba Nation Global Directorate calls for reversal of Gbobaniyi Chieftaincy title

The former governor of Kaduna State, El Rufai was conferred the chieftaincy title as the Gbobaniyi of Ijebu Ode which many yoruba see as undeserving, citing his political decisions and beliefs.

Dear Kabiyesi

REQUEST FOR REVERSAL OF GBOBANIYI CHIEFTAINCY ON MALLAM NASIR EL RUFAI

We write on behalf of the Yoruba people who have directed the Yoruba Nation Global Directorate to apprise Your Royal Highness of the message in this letter.
We understand that on Saturday the 16th December 2023 your royal Highness invested the former governor of Kaduna State, El Rufai, as the Gbobaniyi of Ijebu Ode. Though this chieftaincy may be innocuous to some people, coming from your royal highness and given your clout and respect, the general opinion amongst the people of Yorubaland is that El Rufai does not deserve the honour on the grounds stated below.

Mallam Nasir El Rufai made a speech where he addressed some Muslim clerics which went viral where he openly supported the terrorism and killing of innocent people in Kaduna state.
El Rufai abhorred democracy and his actions and inactions suggest that he is not worthy of being vested with a chieftaincy in Ijebu Ode. In his well-circulated video, El Rufai boasted that the Muslim/Muslim governorship ticket would be sustained beyond 20 years by God’s grace. Such a statement is not only insensitive it spews of hatred for other religions in the State.
The former governor El Rufai is allegedly involved in aiding and abetting the Boko Haram and herdsmen onslaught against the innocent people of Kaduna State.

El Rufai openly supported the killing of Christians, burning of churches, and destruction of homes in Kaduna State.

El Rufai never spoke against the incessant and unprovoked killing of the innocent people of Kaduna State which includes children, girls, women, and the poor in that state.

El Rufai is good at crying wolf and shedding crocodile tears when he has taken no active steps to stem the deadly onslaught of the Boko haram insurgence in Kaduna state as a governor.

While El Rufai was unable to quell the deadly persecution of the people of Kaduna State and support the children of school age to get an education for the development of the state, El Rufai ensured he supported the vision of Boko haram and Fulani herdsmen’s vision of Islamising Kaduna State.

He spent millions of Taxpayers’ money funding Oxford University for more than 4 years in the United Kingdom. Almost 90% of the pupils in Kaduna today are out of school and roaming the streets as beggars.

Investing in a religious bigot, a remarkable apologist for terrorism and a leader who had the opportunity to change the fortune of the children and Kanuna State by making education accessible to them is unworthy of any title in Yoruba land let alone Ijebu Ode.

The Yoruba people will not pretend to notice the efforts of the Fulani, which El Rufai has been supporting, to take over some communities in Yorubaland. It is our duty, cultural and Social responsibility as Yoruba citizens to let the Royal Fathers in Yoruba land think over their recent and unpopular actions whereby they are selling their birthright to foreigners for whatever benefits are being doled out to them by politicians. Are these politicians not responsible for promulgation laws and constitutional provisions that took away the powers of the Obas in Yorubaland and Nigeria?

The conferment of the chieftaincy title on El Rufai did not augur well with the Yoruba people and it has subjected ridicule of your highly esteemed Royal Stool at social gatherings. We humbly appeal to Your Royal Highness to consider withdrawing the chieftaincy title from Mallam Nasir El Rufai.

Oodua a gbe wa o Long live his Royal Highness and Long live Yorubaland.

Yours truly,

Princess Adeola Atayero Olamijulo
Directorate Director
