Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen has finally reunited with his national teammates ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Victor Osimhen has been one of the busiest footballers on earth in the last two weeks as he and his team were making efforts to land a new club.
Recall that Osimhen who has been playing for Napoli since 2020, sent a transfer request to the club earlier this summer as he wanted to continue his career elsewhere.
Unfortunately, the €130 million release clause in the contract he signed with Napoli in December 2023 became a big problem for his suitors who were Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain, Liverpool, Arsenal, and a host of others.
Towards the end of the transfer window, Napoli had to lower their demands to enable the 25-year-old striker to exit but clubs like Chelsea and Al-Ahli of Saudi Pro League still couldn’t satisfy the demands of both the player and the Italian side.
Hence, the transfer window in top European leagues ended without Osimhen securing a new club. Following that, Napoli kicked him out of the squad and withdrew shirt number 9 from him.
Fortunately for him, Turkish champions Galatasaray gained interest in him and signed him on a season-long loan deal.
The Turkish club officially unveiled him on Wednesday, September 4, and Victor Osimhen was able to fly down to Nigeria for the Super Eagles’ training session this evening, September 5, 2024.
In a video shared on the Super Eagles’ official Instagram page, Victor Osimhen could be seen joyously shaking hands with his teammates and the national team backroom staff before their training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital.
