The President of The Yorùbá First (TYF), Oladimeji Bolarinwa, has expressed concern over the rising spate of bandit attacks in Kwara and Kogi States, calling on government authorities at all levels to take urgent and decisive action to protect lives and property.
Speaking during a live interview on TVC News on Wednesday, Bolarinwa described the growing insecurity in the region as alarming and warned that continued inaction could further endanger rural communities and disrupt socioeconomic stability.
He noted that several communities in Ifelodun, Edu, Patigi, and Babanla areas of Kwara State, as well as parts of Kogi, have been under repeated attacks by armed groups, leaving residents in fear and forcing many to abandon their homes and means of livelihood.
“This is not just a security issue; it’s a question of survival and responsibility,” Bolarinwa said. “Our people deserve protection, and every government; federal, state, and local must rise to this challenge with urgency and sincerity.”
The TYF President urged the authorities to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve coordination among security agencies, and provide adequate logistical support for personnel deployed to the affected areas.
He also appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, and youth organizations to cooperate with security operatives by providing timely information that could aid in preventing future attacks.
Bolarinwa reiterated TYF’s commitment to advocating for safety and stability across Yoruba-speaking communities, stressing that regional cooperation and proactive measures were essential to tackling the current wave of insecurity.
