The senseless cyber attacks on Yoruba

It has been a repetitive incident whereby some groups have been adamant about soiling the names of prominent Yoruba icons, denigrating their names and businesses with no regard for any institution or parastatals they occupy.

A consistent plot against the octogenarian and Africa’s greatest literary expert, Prof Wole Soyinka, has been going on for decades. Several cyber attacks target tarnishing his image globally. Attempts were made to pull down the Nobel prize and other international recognitions he achieved through due diligence and excellence.

In this cluster of attacks being made against the Yoruba people is Pst. Enoch Adejare Adeboye being caught in the Web. Series of allegations were made almost every market day.

These targets and cyber bully know no bounds as they troop in their numbers, aiming at destroying their target at all cost. A recent case is that of Yoruba Nollywood star, Toyin Abraham, which came under the radar of these non-chalant groups after his open support for Presiden Tinubu in the last election, receiving various threats and attempts to pull down his movies on streaming platforms for no reason.

This headless mob has stretched its whips to monarchs in Yorubaland and devised series of methods to ridicule the Yoruba culture and monarchical stools. A rumour of a fraudulent transaction with sketchy image document impersonating Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, circulating in the media was posted on X by a user @pidominigeria known for denigrating acts against Yorubaland.

The Ooni of Ife holds a prime position as a leading traditional ruler in Yorubaland, and revered as a first-class monarch. His status demands utmost respect; any attempt to dishonour him is unacceptable to the Yoruba nation.
