President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, amid allegations leveled against him.

The development was announced in a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, tendered his resignation in a letter addressed to President Tinubu, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to serve the country.

In his resignation letter, Nnaji stated that he had become a target of blackmail by political opponents, adding that his decision to step down was in the best interest of the administration and to allow for an independent investigation into the allegations.

President Tinubu, while accepting his resignation, thanked the former minister for his service to the nation and wished him well in his future endeavours.

Nnaji’s resignation adds to the list of recent changes within the Federal Executive Council as the Tinubu administration continues to realign its cabinet for improved governance and accountability.
