The Port Harcourt refinery has finally commenced fuel production after several postponements.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) confirmed this development to Punch on Tuesday.

According to the NNPCL spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, the refinery has started producing fuel and the loading of trucks is expected to start today.

This development is a significant milestone for the refinery, which has been undergoing rehabilitation work.

Punch NG reported, “Port Harcourt Refinery begins production. Truck loading starts today, Tuesday,” Soneye told our correspondent.

The commencement of fuel production at the Port Harcourt refinery is expected to boost the country’s fuel supply and reduce reliance on imported fuel.

The refinery’s production capacity is expected to increase gradually as it ramps up its operations.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has been working to revamp the country’s refineries, including the Port Harcourt refinery, to increase domestic fuel production and reduce dependence on imported fuel.
