Oyebanji Reinstates 15 Legislative Workers Sacked by Fayemi

The Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the reinstatement of 15 staff members of the State House of Assembly sacked by the administration of the former governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi in 2021.

Recall that the affected workers were relieved of their appointments by the Fayemi administration over some sundry issues, including allegations of being in the opposition party.

However, after almost three years, Governor Oyebanji this week approved that the affected workers be brought back to their positions.

Unfortunately, one of the affected workers had died before the reinstatement.

The Chairman of Ekiti State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon Kayode Fasakin, broke the news to the workers during the first plenary of the new year 2024.

A statement released by the media office of the chairman reads: ”One of the top issues discussed was the good news that brought joy and jubilation on the commission’s premises with regards to the approval by the state governor, His Excellency Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of immediate reinstatement of 15 legislative staff disengaged for irregular appointment in 2021.

”Another issue discussed at the plenary, was ways to improve the already established Staff Loans Board in the commission, where the Chairman of the commission, Hon Fasakin Kayode Ajayi praised the state governor and the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Adeoye Aribasoye, for their efforts at ensuring the take-off of the loans board.

”Other members at the plenary include Hon David Taiwo, Hon Olajide Olaniyi, Hon Rotimi Ajidara, Hon (Mrs) Fola Richie-Adewusi, Hon Abidemi Ipinlaye, Rev Akintunde Famoyegun and the Executive Secretary, Mr Tolulope Afolabi among others.”
