Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has warned that the military may step in if looting continues at the ongoing nationwide demonstrations.

Musa made this statement during a press conference in Abuja on Friday.

He emphasized that the military is monitoring the situation closely may intervene if it goes beyond what the police can handle.

While acknowledging protesters’ grievances, Musa urged understanding and unity during these challenging times.

He also cautioned against vandalism, looting, and destruction of property, stressing that such actions hinder progress.

Musa condemned the high rate of destruction on the first day of the 10-day hunger protest, labeling it “crazy.” He assured that the military and security agencies would take action against those who refuse to listen and would not allow the country to be destroyed.

“We support the police and are on standby. We urge Nigerians to understand the government and avoid destructive actions. We will not allow criminals to take advantage of this situation and destroy our country,” Musa said.

The military’s warning comes as protests continue across the country, with some turning violent and resulting in looting and property damage.
