Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has launched the 2025 Omituntun Free Medical Mission, a comprehensive healthcare initiative aimed at providing medical services to residents.
The Governor emphasized the importance of continuity of care beyond the outreach, with efforts underway to facilitate enrollment of beneficiaries on the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme.
“We have made a lot of progress in terms of commitment to primary healthcare. So, we have to keep the pressure on,” Makinde said.
The Omituntun Medical Mission follows a clustering model, with each cluster operating for three full days to ensure effective delivery of healthcare services. Makinde expressed gratitude to stakeholders who have contributed to the success of his administration’s healthcare policies and programs.
Makinde also highlighted the state’s achievements in education, security, and economic expansion, citing improved performance in SSCE and UTME, as well as the state’s economic growth.
“The state government has won the war against insecurity, and it would not sleep until residents can sleep with their two eyes closed,” Makinde declared.
The Governor also offered to share Oyo’s template for building functional Category 3 Primary Healthcare Centres with the Federal Government, which plans to build 8,800 Primary Healthcare Centres across the country.
“We are happy that we can give the federal level our template. The template has worked in Oyo State and I am assured it would work at the federal level,” Makinde said.
