Suspected hoodlums in Niger State, Nigeria, hijacked a protest in Suleja area yesterday, seizing food items from trailers on the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
The demonstrators had blocked the highway early in the day to protest the high cost of food items in Nigeria.
Eyewitnesses reported that the protest took a violent turn when the hoodlums intercepted trailers loaded with food supplies at the Suleja Junction along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
These food items were en route to the popular Madalla Market for weekly trading.
Meanwhile, security forces, led by soldiers from the Guards Brigade, swiftly intervened to disperse the suspected hoodlums and restore order in the area.
Following their intervention, normalcy resumed on the highway, allowing free flow of traffic to resume without further incident.
