Fix Roads, We Don’t Need Gov’t Allowance, Ogun Monarch Tells Abiodun, Tinubu

April 16, 2024 2 min read

A monarch in Ogun State, the Olu of Lisa, Oba Najeemdeen Odugbemi has requested fixing of bad roads in the state, stressing that he doesn’t need government allowance.

Oba Odugbemi, while addressing executive officers of the Ogun State chapters of the Nigerian Union of Journalists and National Association of Women Journalists, during a courtesy visit lamented that there were a lot of bad roads that were yet to be fixed in the state by the state and federal governments.

The monarch, while citing one of the bad roads affecting his people, mentioned Lisa Road, approximately a 10.5 kilometre stretch to the Arcade Ground of the 2005/2006 Belview plane crash.

In his words, he described the road as too big for the community to handle alone, seeking the intervention of the state and federal governments.

Oba Odugbemi also claimed that ever since he assumed office, he had been sponsoring beneficial projects single-handedly, without the help of government.

“Our major problem is the issue of bad road network from Ijoko to Lisa, I want the Governor and the President to come to our aid for this issue”, he said, adding
“I don’t need any money from the government, we are not fully fed, but we are not hungry either, what we need from them is roads, even though, they should forget about the light for now, give us a road from Ijoko to Lisa we will appreciate that”.

“The road is so big to us, without a good road network, there will be no development since our Senator resumed to Abuja, he hasn’t been picking up calls anymore”, Oba added.

He, therefore, urged President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun to intervene and provide better roads for the benefit and development of communities in the state.
