The Ekiti State government has thrown its full weight behind the National Agency for The Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in its determination to eradicate human trafficking in the state.
Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, made the government’s position known when playing host to the team of the agency in her office on Thursday.
The SSG in her remark eulogised the governor as a man of unwavering resolve and compassion with a deep commitment to the welfare of his people.
“Governor Oyebanji had vowed to tackle any scourge of human trafficking and gender based violence head on. I am very optimistic he will surely forge alliance with your organization.
“Together, we can form a formidable team, united in our mission to eradicate this modern-day slavery from the streets of Ekiti. With NAPTIP’s expertise and the government’s resources, we can launch a multifaceted campaign to combat human trafficking at its roots”, she assured.
Earlier, the Head of Liason Office Of NAPTIP in the state, Oladimeji Samson, in his remarks lamented the poor condition in which the agency operated in the state which he noted had constituted a great challenge to their effectiveness in fight against human trafficking.
The agency called on the state government to assist them in area of logistic support such as a befitting office and operational vehicle to meet up to standard with their colleagues in other states.
Oladimeji went further by promising that the agency would put more efforts in fight against human trafficking in Ekiti State.
