Chelsea have announced the appointment of Liam Rosenior as the club’s new head coach.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the English Premier League club confirmed that Rosenior has signed a six-year contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2032.

The 41-year-old joins Chelsea from French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, where he has spent over two years as manager. Strasbourg are also part of the same ownership group as Chelsea.

Rosenior, a former Premier League player who transitioned into management, expressed his delight at taking charge of the London club, describing the appointment as a major honour.

“I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed head coach of Chelsea Football Club,” Rosenior told the club’s media. “This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies.”

He said his responsibility would be to preserve Chelsea’s winning identity while building a team capable of sustained success.

“My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play as we continue winning trophies. To be entrusted with this role means the world to me, and I want to thank everyone involved for the faith placed in me,” he added.

Rosenior is widely regarded for his work with young players during his time in France, a quality expected to align with Chelsea’s youthful squad. He said teamwork, unity, and strong connections within the club would be central to his approach.

“I am excited to work with this extremely talented group of players and staff, to build strong connections on and off the pitch, and to create an environment where everyone is united and driven by the same goal,” he said.

The new head coach also paid tribute to Chelsea supporters, promising total commitment to restoring success at the highest level.

“There is a real hunger to win, and I will give everything, every single day, to help this team compete and win at the very highest level and make everyone proud to be part of Chelsea Football Club.”

Chelsea are expected to begin preparations for the upcoming season under Rosenior’s leadership in the coming weeks.
