The Ogun State Government has launched a ₦500 million grant initiative aimed at empowering artisans and small business owners across the state. The initiative, which targets the informal sector, is designed to boost economic activities, promote self-reliance, and support community-based entrepreneurship.

Announcing the development, Governor Dapo Abiodun emphasized the critical role that small businesses play in driving economic development and job creation. He noted that the grant is a strategic component of his administration’s efforts to reduce unemployment and uplift grassroots enterprises.

“The empowerment of artisans and small-scale traders is central to our economic agenda. By providing them with the resources they need to thrive, we are laying a solid foundation for sustainable development in Ogun State,” the Governor stated.

According to government sources, the ₦500 million grant will be disbursed in phases to qualified beneficiaries who meet the set eligibility criteria. The selection and distribution process will be handled transparently through official government channels, with applications expected to open soon.

Reacting to the announcement, many local entrepreneurs and artisans across the state expressed optimism, describing the grant as a timely intervention that could help mitigate the effects of rising operational costs and economic challenges.

This initiative marks a significant step in Ogun State’s broader economic recovery plan, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and grassroots development.
