A prominent Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his support of the establishment of state police in Nigeria.

The group’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Titilayo Akintobi, expressed their appreciation for the President’s stance on the matter.

According to Ajayi, there is a growing consensus among national and state legislators, as well as the Executive Arm of Government, on the need for state police.

“On the need to have state police now among the national and state legislators as well as the Executive Arm of Government, it is hoped that State Police will take off very soon in Nigeria,” Ajayi added.

This development is seen as a significant step towards enhancing security in the country.

The establishment of state police is expected to allow for more localized control and response to security challenges, potentially leading to improved safety and security for citizens.

Afenifere’s commendation of President Tinubu’s stance on state police reflects the group’s commitment to promoting security and development in the country.
