Tension is brewing in the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following a war of words between the party and former governor, Senator Gbenga Daniel, over his reported suspension.
The Ijebu-East APC executives had announced Danielโs suspension, citing alleged anti-party activities and neglect of party structures in his constituency.
But the senator, who represents Ogun East in the National Assembly, dismissed the suspension as a โcharadeโ and an act of desperation by a few disgruntled politicians.
Daniel insisted that only the APC National Working Committee has the power to discipline or suspend a sitting senator, describing the move as โillegal and laughable.โ
Meanwhile, the Ogun APC leadership at the state level has distanced itself from the purported suspension, saying it has not received any official communication on the matter.
The development has sparked fresh debates within the party ahead of the next political cycle in the state.
