A recent tweet from Uchenna Odu has brought to light the shocking plight of Igbo youths imprisoned abroad.

According to Odu, over 6,500 Igbo youths are jailed in India, more than 8,500 in Dubai, and over 15,000 in Malaysia.

These numbers are staggering, and the conditions in these prisons are reportedly dire.

Uchenna Odu took to Twitter to express his outrage and frustration, saying: “6,500 Igbo youths are jailed in India and over 8,500 are jailed in Dubai. The Dubai prison where our people are kept got filled and they started transferring them to another place, in Malaysia is more than 15,000. Now tell me what the OHANAEZE Ndi Igbo president & co. All the representatives we sent to Abuja to represent us doing for our people! They are enriching themselves and families only. I always laugh out loud when some people still believe in their oppressors.” He tweeted.

Odu’s tweet also shares a heart-wrenching account from a friend who spent 10 years in an Indian prison.

The friend recounts the horrific treatment of Igbo youths, including killings and forced organ harvesting for medical treatment.

Odu added, “A very closed friend of mine recently came back after serving 10 years in India prison, he told me the dangerous activities happening there, many are being killed, used their kidneys and other organs for medical treatment of other individuals who buys them! It’s better for our people be deported back home then keeping them in prison and killing many them.”

The alarming revelations have sparked widespread outrage and concern among the Igbo community, with many calling for immediate action from leaders to address the plight of their imprisoned youths.

The OHANAEZE Ndi Igbo president and representatives in Abuja have been accused of indifference and inaction, prioritizing their own interests and enriching themselves and their families rather than advocating for their people.
