September 16, 2023 2 min read

Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has vowed to ensure his administration work to ensure that the local government system works in the state in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The governor stated this on Friday while swearing in sole administrators of the 23 local government council areas in the state.

The governor said: ”We will respect and ensure the system works in line with the constitutional provisions and cardinal principles of discipline, dedication and commitment to service as a driver for good governance.”

The governor also charged the new sole administrators to be punctual, prudent and security conscious while discharging their duties

He further called on the appointees not to fail to regularly report to the state government the outcomes of their routine security meetings in order to assist in improving the security architecture of the state.

“You must be responsive in discharging your duties and shun truancy by focusing attention on security issues, while you should also demonstrate a high sense of punctuality and ensure prudent management of the scarce resources available for the peace, progress and benefit of the people and prosperity of the state”, the governor said.

He further reminded all the appointees to be mindful that they were the chief security officers of their respective local government areas and were bound to remain sensitive and prompt on alert against possible security breaches and ensure optimal welfare of their people.

”We will remain resolute and ensure that the local government system in the state works as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution. We will ensure the harmonious working relationship between state and local government councils,” he added.
